Why This Reference Exists
Printed Northport directories became intermittent and eventually stopped, but the underlying records remained with separate custodians. The Tuscaloosa County Tax Assessor and Probate Judge hold the main ownership trail. Alabama law controls voter access. Tuscaloosa Public Library and the Alabama Department of Archives and History preserve historical volumes. This reference brings Northport's official search routes, office contacts, known coverage, and access limits into one practical starting point.
What The Directory Contains
- Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
- The rolls and offices: assessor, recorder, elections office, court clerk, vital records, the library's local history collection
- Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
- Access rules: what Alabama law opens, what remains restricted, and where a focused request belongs
Limits Of Our Role
Northport Residents Directory is a privately run reference site. It is independent of the City of Northport, Tuscaloosa County, every Alabama agency, court, and library. As a result:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Northport
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, fee, or office detail is still current
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
